aProCh goes beyond Ahmedabad

First Street smart outside Ahmedabad was held at Rajkot on the Children's Day (14th November).

July 5, CG Road, A Walkers' Paradise

Ahmedabad Traffic Police in collaboration with several schools and NGO’s is organizing its second – “A Walker’s Paradise” on Sunday, July 5, 2009 along C G Road. The busiest section of the road, Girish Cold drinks to Swastik Char Rasta, will be closed for traffic and transformed into a Pedestrian Zone 8.00 A.M to 12 Midnight.

The event primarily aims to:

• Spread awareness about city’s plans to make Ahmedabad a pedestrian friendly, child friendly and eco friendly city.

• Celebrate the rich culture through music, art and dance.

• For city authorities to show that it cares for its citizens.

The other partners for this event are Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, 69 Events, aProCh, (A Protagonist in every Child) ITDP, Yuva Unstoppable and Radio Mirchi.

Events planned along the road strip include:

• Caricature, portrait, painting and tattoo designing by Line Design’s, Rahul Raj and Vijay Shrimali.

• Magic Show by Rahul Raj.

• Games by Just Smile and ToysRfun.

• Dance performances by Samvedana, J.G international school and Bobby Nritya Academy.

• Music Concert by Zeel Parikh, Het Music Academy, J.G International school and LIC.

• Yoga and Karate by Dhamikai Shitoryu.

• Cycling by Tubes India.

• Skating by Rahul Rana.

• Street Play by Dhrati,Vasant Parmar and St. Kabir School.

• Run for a cause to make the city eco-friendly.

• March past by Ahmedabad traffic police band

• Talent Hunt by Radio Mirchi

To announce the event to the public and media a press conference will be held on July 3rd. Noted citizens, sponsors, participating agencies and City officials will be attending this press meet to promote the event.

  • August 15, 2008 -Street Smart celebrated 1 year anniversary with 5 hosts coming to celebrate childhood.
  • September 28, 2008 - Movie'ing Experience - Singh is Kinng for 150 children
  • October 2, 2008 - Street Smart by DPS East - a Sheri Garba nite at Law Garden
  • November 14, 2008 - a Children's Day special - Movie'ing Experience and picnic at City Pulse Gandhinagar
  • December - January 2009 - Friend of the Child program at Seva Cafe by Grade 3 and Grade 4 children of Riverside School
  • December 3, 2008 - First Tees Ka Dum Center at Sadar Bazaar - ownership by Riverside School
  • December 7, 2008 - Street Smart - Samvedana sponsored the Peace Initiaitve
  • December 23, 2008 - Movie'ing Experience for 150 children
  • January 26, 2009 - Street Smart by J G International School to promote Self Reliance
  • C G Road - A Walkers' Paradise on February 1, 2009
    •  aProCh partnered with Ahmedabad Traffic Police and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to convert C G Road into a place for pedestrians and a show case for city's varied talents.
  • March 26, 2009 - Culmination of 3 months at our First Tees Ka Dum Center at Sadar Bazaar
    • 40 children attended free tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday for English and Math curriculum
    • 60 - 70 children attended Saturday Activity Clubs to learn music, art, dance and sports.
    • Over 25 Riverside School teachers, 50 Riverside School students and 7 volunteers participated in providing high level interventions for these children for a period of 3 months
    • Hardik and Simran - grade 7 students at Riverside organised and trained girls and boys football teams for a period of 1 month.

Rajkot Starts First aProCh Chapter outside Ahmedabad

Riverside TGIS, Rajkot has seen the value of aProCh and its impact on the city of Ahmedabad and taken aProCh to Rajkot. aProCh Rajkot Chapter kicked of their first event in a big way. More than 750 slum children between the ages of 5 and 13 gathered at the Galaxy Theater to see Spiderman (Hindi) as part of the Movie'ing Experience intiative of aProCh.
